Our History

copy.jpg

Established on its present site in Somerset Close in 1922, New Malden Sports Club began as a tennis club.

Over the years, it evolved into a multi-rackets club, expanding its facilities to include badminton and squash alongside tennis.

In 1998, the addition of a gym transformed the club into a comprehensive multi-sports complex, offering something for everyone and incorporating excellent social amenities.

Throughout its history, NMSC has attracted numerous high-profile tennis stars. The legendary multi-Grand Slam champion Fred Perry and his GB Davis Cup teammate Harry Lee were notable members in the late 1920s. During the 1950s, GB Davis Cup stars such as Billy Knight and Alan Mills, as well as Grand Slam doubles winner Angela Buxton, achieved success at the club.

On May 6, 2022, we proudly celebrated our 100-year anniversary.
